A reminder about using card readers when you attend sessions

Registering your attendance is an important part of each day on campus. By tapping the card reader in the lecture room, our system registers that you have been in a lecture.

Why does registering attendance matter?

The main reason we measure attendance is to ensure that you get the support you need. If we notice a series of uninformed absences, we will reach out to determine if there are any wellbeing and academic services that can support you. Registering your attendance correctly ensures that this support reaches the students who need it most.

Using the Card Readers

Card readers will only register your card a maximum of 15 minutes before the lecture start time, and up to 15 minutes into your lecture.

It is crucial that you only tap your card during this 30-minute window. If you attempt to tap your card outside of this time, your attendance will not be registered by the system.

Attendance can only be registered in the designated location for the specific session. Most rooms on campus have a card reader for you to use. For those that don’t your lecturer will provide an alternative method for signing in.
